The world of 2D is comprised of many different categories and offers an artist the most diversified mediums to work with. Whether technical or whimsical, two dimensional creations allow an artist to express themselves, in a variety of ways; from the simplest click of a camera’s shutter, to the intensely detailed and laborious mechanical drawings of a designer. Over the years I have had the great satisfaction to diversify my skills by creating these 2D digital pieces of art in the following forms.
ICONS
Creating an icon is more than just an art-form. One has to have an understanding of how to convey a meaning to several million people around the world, while contending with and maintaining specific guidelines. I approach this type of work with a healthy balance of deep thought, form and color; to convey meaning and purpose of certain actions or representations that might not be so straight forward.
LOGOS
My approach towards designing logos is focusing on incorporating my learning’s of design methodologies, along with my creative individuality to form both conscious and sub-conscious thoughts and meanings. I practice my art and design through the use of appropriate lines, shape, form, space, negative space and color to invoke a response and communicate meaningful identities on a global level.
GRAPHICS
As a trained industrial designer, my approach to graphic illustration work is based more on a clean, modern, functional and minimalistic design. I enjoy working with striking contrasts in opposing colors and spacing. Similar to my approach with icon design, I try to balance and harmonize the graphical elements, attracting the viewer and trying to invoke a response.
TEXTURES
My work in creating textures has grown tenfold over the past few decades. First through the gathering of reference and photo-manipulation, to most recently having hand painted on multiple, non-destructive, organized and most importantly, correctly labels layers. My work with textures has varied in styles from photo-realistic to a more cartoonish “Pixar” style.
PHOTOGRAPHY
A lover of film and a great admirer of some of the most famous directors and cinematographers of our time, I approach my photography through creative composition, balance and framing. I have been most thankful for the incredible opportunities I have had to travel to some of the more unique destinations around the world and share my experience with you through my eyes.
