DJMB CD ARTWORK

This CD cover/insert was done for the Seattle based and internationally recognized dj and music producer, DJMB. The simplistic outlined style was created in late 2000, a few months before the more famous iPod advertising campaign featuring silhouetted dancers. The DJ approached me wanting to create cd cover and insert for the first of 3 Ibiza mixes. The cover was designed with the intent on being reversible, depending if people were looking to see themselves wanting to escape the city, or if they saw the pleasure and happiness of visualizing themselves already on a  palm laden island. I choose that particular color of orange for the lines and the CD to represent the sunset and warmth of the Spanish. I complimented the color with a darker gray to represent the drearier city life. The design of the back cover was to give the listener an idea of how the DJ represents himself through his music in a relaxed pose with his tools of trade, headphones and a crate of wax. This balance of the track listing on the left were weighted to attract the eye more towards the music with the profile of the mysterious DJ as an important and complimentary attraction. I finalized the design in a gray letterbox format with the graphic of the DJ coming outside of the box as does his choice in introducing new music to the masses.
