Pickup Items

The following set of icons were designed and used in a prototype of a Massive Multi-Player Online Game (MMOG). These animated icons were used as pickups throughout the game on various levels representing a diversified playing environment. The style of the game and its icons were based on more of a cartoonish portrayal of photo-realistic items. More than 20+ icons were created for this particular game.

 

User Interface

These are pop-up user interface overlays used during game play. The approach was to utilize the brilliance of Alias Maya unique Marking Menu system approach, where as the user can bring up an action menu without the unecessary movements to where a traditional menu would be. This would later become a common practice used in software and game design.

This was more of test to try and create the smallest legable font, Nano, more than it was to be used in practice…this was only a test…you may resume what you were doing.

These were two of several submitted user interface menu screenshots. I was trying to go with the least obtrusive UI, utilizing clean, readable fonts and a glass/transparent overlay to allow the user to interact without getting too far removed from the continuous game-play.
