My approach towards designing logos is to focus on incorporating my studies of design philosophy and methodology, along with my unique creative insight to form both conscious and sub-conscious meanings. I practice my art and design through the use of appropriate line weight, shape, form, space, negative space and color to invoke a response and convey meaningful identities on a global level.
MICROSOFT: TURN 10 STUDIOS
The opportunity was given to artists and designers on the Forza 2 team to come up with a new logo and overall identity to the then recently named internal Microsoft Game Studio, Turn 10. From the start I tried to incorporate certain visuals elements commonly seen around racing events with the psychological visual forms of fast and progressive.
PORTLAND WALKING TOURS
When developing one of the earlier versions of the Portland Walking Tour logo, I wanted to capture the feeling of a group of people gathering around a hot spot. Working with the overhead view commonly found in maps. I added the “you are here” red dot graphic element, along with the contrast of the people gathered around in compass fashion.
DIGITAL NOMAD STUDIOS
Designed to be timeless in nature, incorporating simplistic shapes and line weights, this icon drew upon early influences of hieroglyphics and mysterious crop circles. The graphic, like the studio itself, represents an online nomadic collaboration of creative talented individuals networked around the world for the greater common good.
