ANIMATION
Before there were video games (me working on them that is), there was the world of post-production. You must be saying to yourself, “but Howard, that was like 15 years ago, did they even have computer animation back then?”. They did and I was fortunate to position myself as a 3D artist in the post-production world where I had a part in making several animations for both national and international clients.
MOTION GRAPHICS
Motion graphics is and has been a big buzzword for the past few years. Back when I worked in post-production they would be more refered to as bumpers, trailers or graphic overlays, all involving dynamic graphics of course. Today, one still finds the same to hold true, but great strides in software and hardware has allowed for a broader scope of what one can creatively produce.
VISUAL EFFECTS
Taking on the role as a 3D artist in a post-production environment, forced the small team of two to take on many responsibilities and tasks that might ordinarily put one out of ones comfort zone. Thankfully Alias (modeling software) merged with Wavefront (animation/particle software) during my time at the post-production house, allowing us to take on more visual effects work.
